VIVAnews - Creative industry in Indonesia will have sound progress if it can build a tight connection with telecommunication industry, according to Head of Telecommunication Committee of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (Kadin), Anindya Bakrie.

"An example [of the connection] is ring back tone (RBT). Label companes garner around 60 to 65 percent of their monthly income from RBT," he said. "If there were no RBT, they would close down two years ago," Anindya added.

Anindya cited RBT in the telecommunication industry is one of the value-added services (VAS). "The chance of growth for creative industry lies here," he added.

"40 percent of around seven to eight trillion of operators' capital expenditure has been allocated to consumer services," he said, "including promotion and VAS."

According to Anindya, based on last report, unique subscriber handset or cellular service costumers have reached 80 million people in Indonesia. It means that only 40 percent of the total population uses cellular service. "It is a quite an opportunity to boost creative industry," he said. "It should be surely supported by the appropriate regulation."

He went on to say that the government should have been capable of preparing a precise regulation to frame the creative industry, mainly to prevent them from being troubled by such issue as Intellectual Property Rights (HAKI).
