War Against CD/DVD Piracy

VIVAnews - Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Patrialis Akbar, opposed the United States which has listed Indonesia as one in 11 countries in the priority watch list by virtue of intellectual property rights.

Patrialis said that the issues on intellectual property rights in Indonesia are partly solved. "We've been improving on intellectual property rights. While as regards pirated CDs, that's law enforcers' duty," said Patrialis today, March 22.

Patrialis admitted that issues on pirated CDs and DVDs are indeed upsetting. "The control has to do with cooperation in applying the system," he said.

"Any action should be taken against the piracy of CDs and DVDs. Police and the Directorate General of Taxes should team up," he said.

As reported earlier, Indonesia, according to the list released by the United States, is included in the watch list together with China, India, Thailand, and Philippines.
