VIVAnews - The rupiah exchange rate in the interbank spot market, Jakarta, is estimated to remain stagnant against the US dollar today, September 1.
Foreign exchange dealer of PT Bank CIMB Niaga, Iwan Ridwan, said the stagnancy is triggered by Bank Indonesia's action in maintaining the rupiah at around Rp 8,950-Rp 9,050 against US dollar.
"This morning, the rupiah slightly appreciates at Rp 9,030-9,040 against US dollar following the improving regional currencies," he told VIVAnews in Jakarta, today.
However, he admitted that the the rupiah will not gain any further due to the central bank's act in maintaining its value.
"But today the rupiah may move between Rp 9,025 and Rp 9,035 against US dollar following the positive sentiment in the regional currencies," he said.
Based on data from Bloomberg today, the national currency was at Rp 9,035 against US dollar.
