Demonstrators Ask US to Take Action
VIVAnews - Around 200 people from an organization called Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia, urged the United States to penalize Israel for human rights violations committed against Palestine. The demonstrators also requested that Indonesia deploy military troops to the conflict area.
Anti-riot police squad stood on guard during the peaceful demonstration outside the US Embassy on Tuesday, Dec. 30.
During the demonstration, the masses, some holding Palestinian flags, seriously condemned Israel's attack against Palestine which had claimed more than 350 lives.
They also regretted the reactions that have been shown by the United States and other Western countries over the deadly attack. "The United States have been calling for human rights. Well, the brutal attack is a true form of terrorism," said spokesperson of Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia, Farid Wasdi.
The demonstrators insisted that the Arab countries deploy their troops to Palestine. Although Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia will not deploy its volunteers to Gaza Strip, it still allows Muslims to leave for Palestine. In addition, the masses also requested that the Indonesian Military send off its troops to defend Palestine.
"They should not only distribute medicine and food. They should deploy military personnel to fight against Israel," said Wasdi. The demonstrators will proceed with their demonstration to the embassies of Lebanon, Egypt, Iran and Jordan.
