VIVAnews - Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare, Agung Laksono, said the Indonesian government has prepared the required emergency response fund to deal with the disasters, "mainly to handle refugees."

He cited those fleeing from the eruption of Mount Merapi. In the first eruption, the ministry believed that the fund will be needed to cope with 13.500 refugees.

"In fact, the number of refugees reached 16 thousand," he said.

Agung stated that any party, especially the disaster victims, should not be worried of the availability of the fund.

In the occurrence, Agung also explained that the ministry has yet to announce the total fund being readied by the government.

"If it is allocated today, the amount will later be higher," he said.

For the time being, said Agung, foreign aid is not yet important for the emergency response. The government still rely much on the domestic fund which includes health and social issues, infrastructure and emergency response. Meanwhile, foreign aid will be required for rehabilitation and reconstruction.

The government, said Agung, does not only focus on the current disasters. "There are 22 mountains set at the levels of yellow and red," said Agung.
