VIVAnews - Indonesian Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo said in a statement that he would probe allegations that Blackberry producer Research in Motion (RIM) did not pay tax to the Indonesian government.
"I've yet to receive any report on the issue. If they have not paid any tax, we'll ask for its collection," he said in Jakarta last night.
The minister acknowledged the Directorate General of Taxes have not yet submitted any report concerning the tax matter. The issue surfaced as Minister of Information and Communications, Tifatul Sembiring, accused the Canada-based company of not paying even a cent of tax to the Indonesian government. The communication minister cited RIM's income of Rp2.26 trillion per year (US$249.8 million). The number came out based on the minister's calculation of average bill that a RIM customer must pay US$7 per person per month.
