VIVAnews - Ministry of Finance calls down on film importers to pay Rp 30 billion ($3.4 million) of import tax on film royalties and could have to pay up to 10 times the owed amount on March 12, 2011, at the latest.

"We're giving them 60 days to pay the tax," Director General of Customs and Excise Thomas Sugijata told reporters in Jakarta yesterday, Feb 28.

According to Thomas, during the billing period, importers may either proceed for repayments or file tax objections. However, Directorate General of Customs and Excise will send in invoices to the film importers should they fail to meet due date.

The government will also ban the three distributors from importing films to Indonesia if the current situation persists.
