Bomb Blast, Indonesian Police Arrest Suspects

VIVAnews – On Monday, July 11, 2011 at around 3.30 AM of Indonesian Central Time, a homemade bomb exploded inside an Islamic boarding school in central Indonesia, killing one person.

Police held a raid captured a number of suspects for this incident. The West Nusa Tenggara Police assumed that they knew about the incident. “These six people were all allegedly being involved and aware of the bomb blast,” said National Police (Polri) HQ Public Relations Head Insp. Gen. Police Anton Bachrul Alam on Wednesday, July 13.

He said that initially the police apprehended 13 witnesses who transported the body of the bomb blast victim, Firdaus. Then it released seven people while still securing the remaining six.

Anton said that the police officers could finally penetrate the bomb blast scene by force as the locals were blockading the way to Umar bin Khattab school. “So the police could enter the school after the government officials council meeting and aided by West Nusa Tenggara government and clerics as well as local notables,” said Anton.

The two-starred general explained that the police investigated over the blast scene and confiscated some disposals there. However, no firearm was found.

He said that the officers did not find any inhabitant when entering the school as they allegedly ran away to the mountains.

The 13 witnesses who were captured were Mustakim Abdullah (17), a student, M Ibnu Umar (40, businessman), Ridwan (26, bus conductor), Syahrir H Manhir (23, motor taxi driver), Abdullah (55, farmer) and Rahmat Hidayat (22, businessman), Julkifli (32, farmer), Muslamin (38, teacher), H Arifin (50, farmer), Irwan (farmer), M Nur (60, farmer), Nasarudin (42, farmer) and Orasi (52, farmer).
