VIVAnews - An agreement to endorse full protection toward the environment has been signed by three state agencies.
The joint settlement, approved by Ministry for the Environment, the National Police and Attorney General's Office, is a revised version of a deal passed in 2004 based on Law No.32/1999 on the environment protection and conservation.
"The memorandum of understanding will improve the efficacy of handling of environmental crime, enabling the law to impose upon any perpetrators just penalty," said Gusti Muhammad Hatta on Tuesday, July 26.
The Ministry for the Environment will provide assistance to law enforcers in an attempt to deal with a case on the environment.
Police on the other hand will help make available forensic lab, investigators, and various required supports.
The Attorney General's Office will offer legal advocacy and assistance during an investigation process.
