Munir Case Introduced in Dublin Platform

VIVAnews – The case of killed human activist Munir is introduced in the Sixth Dublin Platform on Wednesday, Sept 14. 130 visiting human rights activists from 85 countries gathered for the opening in Dublin Castle, Ireland.

The three-day conference is organized by Front Line, the Dublin based international foundation for the protection of human rights defenders, Dublin Platform will continue until Friday and is designed to provide an environment where defenders of human rights can share their experiences and knowledge.

Earlier, a similar forum was held in January 2002, September 2002, October 2005, November 2007 and February 2010.

The sixth meeting will particularly formulate the larger role of human rights activists.

Indonesian delegates include four people, namely Usman Hamid, Chairman of Commission of Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (Kontras) also helming the delegation, Rafendi Djamin, Chairman of ASEAN Inter-governmental Commission for Human Rights, Thresje Gaspersz from Institute of Papuan Research and Legal Aid Development and Upi Asmaradhana, Coordinator of Journalists Protection and Freedom of Expression Committee volunteers.

Usman Hamid said the role of rights defenders and the higher risk of rights activists in many countries in the world will be under the spotlight in the 6th Dublin Platform in Ireland.

“We will bring up the Munir case, which hasn’t yet been resolved,” he said.
