VIVAnews - In two days, two regents in Lampung Province, Sumatra, who were brought before the anti-corruption court in the province due to corruption cases have just been acquitted.
Last Monday, suspended East Lampung Regent, Satono was found not guilty of corruption charges of East Lampung Regional Budget worth Rp119 billion.
Only two days later on Wednesday, it was the turn of former Central Lampung Regent Andi Ahmad Sampurna Jaya to gain the acquittal verdict.
Andi was accused of Central Lampung’s budget corruption worth Rp28 billion. The grafted funds were deposited in the same bank as that of the East Lampung corruption case, namely BPR (rural credit bank) Tripanca Setiadana.
In fact, the public prosecutor demanded 10 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rp500 million subsidiary six months in jail for Andi. In addition, he was demanded to pay the compensation amounting to Rp20.5 billion subsidiary four years in prison.
However, the articles by Andi was accused of were dismissed by the panel of judges chaired by Andreas Suharto. Andreas was also the same judge who passed the acquittal verdict to Satono.
Once the ruling was read out, Andi expressed an Islamic invocation in the courtroom of Tanjung Karang District Court, Bandar Lampung.
With regard to the case, two people were arrested namely Hasbulah Herman, who was then Head of Revenue, and Musawir Subing, Secretary of Central Lampung government.
The judges said the ruling was passed since Andi was not found violating the law in terms of budget transfer to BPR Tripanca Setiadana in 2008.
Based on the facts revealed during the trial, the testimony of Herman Hasbulah that the transfer of the funds was ordered by Andi, could not be proven.
