VIVAnews - US President Barack Obama is scheduled to attend the East Asia Summit in Bali by mid-November. Obama's plan is not affected by the issue of rampant terrorist acts in Indonesia.
"So far there has been no change in the plan of Barack Obama's coming," said Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro, in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Sunday.
According to Purnomo, Obama’s coming to Bali is on the occasion of the meeting of East Asian heads of states, or East Asian Summit. He will also discuss a number of bilateral cooperation with Indonesia. "The U.S. plans to help Indonesia fight terrorism," he said.
Several heads of states are scheduled to attend the East Asia Summit. Besides Obama, Russian President Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev is also planning to attend the summit. In that event, both Obama and Dmitry are to hold a bilateral meeting with RI President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to discuss further bilateral cooperations and plans for further partnership.
Throughout 2011, at least there have been some acts of terrorism in Indonesia. On April 15, a suicide bomb attack occurred in Cirebon Police headquarters, West Java.
Meanwhile, several attacks by terrorist groups also occurred in Poso, Central Sulawesi in June 2011.The most recent is a suicide bombing taking place in Bethel Full Gospel Church, Kepunton, Solo, Central Java last September.
