VIVAnews - Two Indonesian migrant workers (TKI) from Central Lombok were killed when their speedboat flipped off on the Singaporean waters.
The news of the death of the two people named Nursam, a resident of Aik Berik village, North Batu Kliang District, and Hamdan, a resident of Pringgarata village, Central Lombok, was conveyed by Singaporean police officers who came to Central Lombok to check the victims’ DNA samples.
Agency for the Placement of Migrant Workers (BP3TKI) West Nusa Tenggara Head of Protection, Saleh, said his party had been coordinating with the BNP2TKI and the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore to repatriate the remains of the two people. BP3TKI West Nusa Tenggara’s data showed the two workers were official labors sent by PT Nusa Sinar Makmur and PT Anugrah Usaha Jaya.
It was reported that Nursam and Hamdan had worked in the oil palm sector in Malaysia since 2007. However, later it was revealed they returned to Indonesia.
In February 2010, Hamdan was reported of returning to Malaysia. But, in April 2010, he reportedly ran away from his employer’s house. The similar was also experienced by Nursam, who reportedly went back to Malaysia in February 2011. Later Nursam also reportedly escaped from his employer.
"Both men reportedly died while in Singaporean waters when their speedboat flipped off. There is a strong indication that they entered the area through Batam," Saleh told reporters in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara, Tuesday.
