VIVAnews - Indonesia National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) will summon Jakarta Governor, Fauzi Bowo to discuss local flooding which has frequently hit the inhabitants of Pondok Labu, South Jakarta.
"[We will] question him on how the Jakarta administration deals with flooding in Pondok Labu," said Komnas HAM commissioner, Syafrudin, today.
The meeting will be held today.
In addition to calling for a clarification on the issue, Komnas HAM will also urge the Jakarta administration to find solutions to the problems.
"A scheme to draw together the Jakarta administration, Indonesia Marine Corps, and Pondok Labu residents is being set up," he said.
Within the past eight months the area has been subject to recurring floods. It is pointed out that the construction of culverts has caused the Krukut River to constrict in a considerable pace.
