Clinton's Visit

Clinton's Coming Will Not Affect Economy

VIVAnews - Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Boediono said US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's visit will not affect the Indonesian economy.

"Hillary is a Secretary of State," said Boediono on Wednesday, Feb 18, "If she were a Minister of Finance, we would probably [discuss matters on the economy]."

According to Boediono, Clinton's visit will only affect political situation in Indonesia. "As for the monetary aspect, I guess there will not be any direct [impact]," he said.

After leaving Japan, Hillary Clinton will announce plan concerning the improvement of US-ASEAN relations which had been neglected by the Bush administration.

Clinton is planning to proceed with the attempts of the Obama administration to rehabilitate the image of the United States abroad especially before Islamic countries. Indonesia is a country with the largest Muslim population and was also the backdrop of Obama's childhood.
