Samudera Indonesia Records $14 Million Profit

VIVAnews - PT Samudera Indonesia Tbk. (SMDR) recorded their net profit along 2008 valuing Rp 169.1 billion (US$14.73 million), higher 24.7 percent than 2007 of Rp 135.8 billion (US$11.83 million). The increase was triggered by the rise of service income.

The Samudera Indonesia managing director Randy Effendi said that the service income in 2008 valued Rp 5.1 trillion (US$444.48 million), higher 24.48 percent from the previous Rp 4.097 trillion (US$357,06 million).

"This insignificant profit increase is caused by the currency loss increase in 2008," said Effendi in the disclosure information in the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) on Monday, March 30.

He explained that the currency loss reached Rp 27.9 billion (US$2.43 million) in 2008. The loss increased 11.6 percent than in 2007 of Rp 25 billion (US$2.18 million). Therefore, the increase triggered additional post expanded to Rp 98.45 billion (US$8.58 million).

Meanwhile, the general and administrative load posts increase for 45.14 percent to Rp 406.57 billion (US$35.43 million) compared than the previous Rp 280.117 billion (US$24.41 million).
