VIVAnews - The analysis management of the Natuna D Alpha Block, Riau Islands, is expected to continue despite Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono government period is soon to be over.
The executive director of mining and energy analysis agency ReforMiner Institute Pri Agung Rakhmanto said that if the government create a re-evaluation on it just now, it will reflect a certain party's importance.
"The policy should remain the same," he said through telephone on Wednesday, April 15.
He also mentioned that the 2009 general elections will put the exploration progess on the Natuna Block on hold. Pertamina is suspected not able to establish a partnership to develop Natuna in 2009. "Natuna will be on hold until there is a new government," he said.
Based on the Pertamina's consultants selection result, Wood Mackenzie has decided eight companies which are included in the Pertamina's partners list. Those companies are namely ExxonMobil (United States), Total (France), Chevron (United States), Statoil (Norway), Shell (the Netherlands), ENI (Italy), CNPC (China) dan Petronas (Malaysia).
The Natuna D Alpha Block is the largest gas refinery in the world. A number of companies has stated their interests because of its high gas potential. Unfortunately, the gas emitted from block is still mixed with carbon dioxide, thus making Pertamina unable to develop the block by themselves.
