Semen Gresik's Sales May Drop 6 Pct

VIVAnews - PT Semen Gresik Tbk. (SMGR) predicts that the company's sales in the first half of 2009 will slide to 5-6 percent. The projected decrease is likely caused by the delayed disbursement of infrastructure stimulus.

However, Semen Gresik as the largest cement producer in Indonesia is optimistic of possible sales increase during the second half of 2009.

"The target will not be revised. We are optimistic of it, given [the potential] growth in the second semester of 2009," said President Director of Semen Gresik Dwi Soetjipto in Jakarta on Wednesday, May 27.

Soetjipto stated that the company has received several long-term contracts from a number of large domestic and foreign companies.

In the first quarter of 2009, Semen Gresik's income reached Rp 3.23 trillion (US$312.07 million), 26.2 percent higher compared to the same period in 2008 of Rp 2.56 trillion.

The company's net profit jumped 31.3 percent to Rp 681 billion from a previous Rp 519 billion.
