VIVAnews - The Department of Defense will propose a raise in its major weaponry system budget.
“The raise is very important because every unit requires technical security to support any operation”, Defense Minister, Juwono Sudarsono, said as quoted from the website dephan.go.id.
He also said that the Department will be discussing about the budget increase proposal with the Finance Department. The discussion will also include the planning of future defense budgeting.
Most importantly, Sudarsono explained, the increased budget will improve the quality of Indonesian Military’s (TNI) weaponry system, which have mostly used for more than 20 years.
In 2009, the budget allocated to the defense department was only Rp 32 billion or lower than 2008 worth Rp 36 billion. Out of the budget’s total amount, less than 10 percent was used to maintain the major weaponry system.
