Netherlands to Fund Geothermal Project

VIVAnews - The government of Garut Regency, West Java, has offered a geothermal project to Dutch investors is situated around the Papandayan, Arinem and Masigit Mountain.

The geothermal energy produced by the three areas will reach 330 megawatts.

According to Garut Regent, Aceng H.M Fikri, the investors would start investing their capital in Garut next July.

The first investment of Rp 170 billion will be focused on the Papandayan Mount with the geothermal potential of 160 megawatts. Meanwhile, the investment for two other geothermal potentials will be carried out gradually.

In addition, during the meeting with 100 European investors in Denhaag, the Netherlands, last weekend, the government of Garut Regency had offered the plantation sector.

According to Fikri, the investors requested his team to prepare 3000 acres of people’s sugarcane plantation. “The investment will also be set out in the near future. The investors have even built a sugar mill in Garut”, he said.

Fikri hopes the high investment interest in his area would boost people’s economic growth and regional revenues.
