Indonesia Hosts Asian Parliamentary Assembly
VIVAnews - Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) will host a plenary meeting of the third Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA). The meeting that will be attended by representatives from 39 Asian parliamentary will take place from 27 to 29 November 2008, at the Jakarta Convention Center, Senayan, Jakarta. In a press conference held at the Parliamentary Complex, Senayan, today, Nov. 19, DPR Chairperson Agung Laksono stated that 250 delegates will participate in the assembly. The main theme would be the current global monetary crisis: "Asia and the Need for a New Global Financial Architecture." Agung said. According to Agung, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will open the session.
Head of DPR Inter-Parliamentary Partnership Board, Abdillah Toha, stated that there was a resolution draft consisting of 15 points including, among others, Asian market integration, poverty eradication in Asia, corruption eradication in Asia and challenge of globalization in Asia. "If it is approved, it will be legalized as the Declaration of Jakarta," said Toha.
