VIVAnews - Birds that are included in the red list of threatened species often fly above the Ancol area, an theme park situated in North Jakarta. They are mostly listed as the critically endangered, vulnerable and protected species.

Among the birds are Cikalang Christmas, Javan Pond Heron, Night Heron, Milky Stork, Little Black Cormorant, Yellow-crested Cockatoo, Brown-throated Sunbird, Olive-backed Sunbird.

The birds as such are often spotted flying above Putri Duyung Cottage, Dunia Fantasi and Gelanggang Samudera.

The phenomenon triggered the management of the theme park in cooperation with the Jakarta Green Monster to conduct 'Nature Spy': An attempt to monitor biodiversity.

Pembangunan Jaya Ancol Tbk Managing Director, Budi Karya, believed that the event will have high educational values for urban society.

The townspeople have rarely been familiar with biodiversity, according to him, that they are mostly uninformed of the potential resources Indonesia has.

Budi expected that people, through the occasion, will pay attention more to the environment.
