This was said by the President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II, Muhamad Awaluddin. The peak of the Eid homecoming return is also predicted to occur on May 7 until May 9, 2022.

"There will be approximately 135 thousand passenger movements during the peak of homecoming return flow, with a peak on May 7, 8 and 9, 2022," he said on Wednesday, May 4, 2022.

On May 7, cumulatively at 20 airports, AP II estimated the number of passenger movements to reach 166,312 people, then on May 8 the highest will be 199,857 people and May 9 will be 179,542 people.

"AP II urges travelers to be able to make their return trips earlier so they don't concentrate on May 7-9. Early travel really helps the movement of passengers on the backflow to be well-distributed."

He continued, at the peak of the return flow later, his team also anticipated if there would occur at several points at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

Facing the peak of the homecoming return this time, PT Angkasa Pura II and stakeholders at Soekarno-Hatta Airport have prepared a number of preparations to deal with the surge in passengers that will fill each terminal at the airport.

"So, the preparation for the homecoming return flows are actually two different things. The first thing that needs to be anticipated during the return flow is collaboration with airlines, especially with ground handling," said AP II President Director, Muhammad Awaluddin.

Soekarno-Hatta airport management will coordinate with relevant stakeholders such as airlines, aviation security, and the police.

“Certainly, there is an anticipation of accumulation. Where the trend will be (buildup) in the conveyor or baggage area, as well as on the land side, namely the passenger exit area from the airport, such as parking, or pick up and drop off areas," he said.

"Of course, we will improve coordination, such as with airlines regarding flight schedules, as well as with the police regarding traffic flow regulation on the land side of the airport, or the exit of passenger vehicles from the airport," he said.
