VIVA – A brand or a name becomes the strength of a product or company. There are some of the oldest brands in Indonesia that have existed since time immemorial. From the food, beverage, or financial industry.

Some of them even have historical value in their establishment. For some Indonesian people, they may not know some of the best-selling and legendary Indonesian brands such as the following.

1. Teh Botol Sosro (1940)

Indonesian people obviously know about this brand. Tea of Sosro has actually been produced since 1940 by Soetjipto Sosrodjojo.

At first, the product sold was dry tea with the brand Teh Cap Botol Baru. Then in 1969, tea was made in bottles. Tea of Sosro still exists today because of its very distinctive and special tea taste.

2. Ting-Ting Jahe Sin A (1935)

Ting-Ting Ginger candy or Indonesian people known as Ting-Ting Jahe was often sold on city buses in ancient times. This brand was founded by Njoo Tjhay Kwee in 1935.

Until now, Ting Ting Jahe candy Sin A is still produced by the sugar confectionery factory Sin A. This factory is located at Jalan Kelenteng 13 Factory, Pasuruan, East Java.

3. Siroop Tjap (1936)

Although nowadays, it is not easy to find the Siroop Tjap brand in supermarkets, this syrup remains a legend for some people.

First made by Tan Tjek Tjiu on July 11, 1936. This syrup is a traditional syrup typical of Cirebon City, West Java. The founder and maker use Campolay fruit or Sapodilla fruit as one of the ingredients to make this syrup.

4. Davos (1931)

Davos is a peppermint candy brand that was popular in 1931 and is still recognized by some Indonesians.

This brand was founded by Kie Djian. The location of the first Davos candy factory has remained the same, namely at Ahmad Yani 67 street, Purbalingga, Central Java.

5. Bango (1928)

Bango Ketchup is one of the most commonly used for food or when making food. It started from a corner of the village in the Benteng area, Tangerang in 1928.

A husband-and-wife couple, Tjoa Pit Boen (Yunus Kartadinata) and Tjoa Eng Nio, started producing Bango soy sauce in their house. Then in 1992, Kecap Bango was acquired by a large international company, Unilever.

6. Semen Padang (1910)

PT Semen Padang, which produces cement, was first established on March 18, 1910.

Initially, this factory was established under the name NV Nederlandsch Indische Portland Cement Maatschappij (NV NIPCM). Then, on July 5, 1958 the Company was nationalized by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia from the Government of the Netherlands.

7. Bank Rakyat Indonesia (1946)

Bank Rakyat Indonesia or BRI was first established in Purwokerto, Central Java by Raden Bei Aria Wirjaatmadja. Initially named De Poerwokerto Sche Hulp en Spaarbank der Inlandsche Hoofden or 'Aid and Savings Bank of the Priyayi Purwokerto'.

After independence, BRI was appointed as the state bank of Indonesia based on Government Regulation Number 1 of 1946.
