VIVA – Stephanie Frappart revealed her readiness ahead of becoming the first female referee at the 2022 World Cup, especially for men's football match. She managed to make history through this achievement.

Not for the first time, this Frenchwoman has made history as the referee in football matches. Stephanie Frappart also became the first woman to lead the French League and Champions League matches. She was once trusted to referee the 2019 Women's World Cup final.
"The men's World Cup is the most important sporting competition in the world. I was the first female referee in France and Europe, so I know how to deal with it," Stephanie Frappart said.
Also, FIFA named three female referees on its list of 36 for the competition, with Rwanda's Salima Mukansanga and Yoshimi Yamashita of Japan.
Chairman of the FIFA Referee Commission, Pierluigi Collina said, the three women referees who will work at the 2022 World Cup do have enough capability to do their job.
"They were chosen not because they are women, but because they are FIFA referees. They can lead any match," Pierluigi Collina remarked.
In addition to the main referees, FIFA also entrusted three female assistant referees, Neuza Back, Kathryn Nesbitt, and Karen Díaz Medina and for the first time.
