Fried Tempeh Becomes the World's Fourth Best Traditional Vegan Dish

VIVA – Tempeh is one of Indonesia's favorite foods for locals and foreigners alike. Recently, fried tempeh was included in TasteAtlas' list of the world's best dishes.
This time, fried tempeh has been named the world's fourth-best traditional vegan dish after zeytoon parvardeh from Iran, guacamole from Mexico, and muhammara from Syria.
The list of the world's best traditional vegan dishes was shared by TasteAtlas via an Instagram post on Sunday, April 23, 2023. In the list containing 50 vegan dishes from various countries, fried tempeh received a rate of 4.5. However, according to the official Taste Atlas website, this Indonesian food is ranked fifth after mujaddara from Iraq in fourth place.
Fried tempeh has a savory taste from the marinade mixture, as well as a crunchy texture when eaten. Fried tempeh can be served as a side dish, or as a snack. Fried tempeh is usually dipped in sambal to add a spicy sensation. It can also be combined with cayenne pepper.

Fried tempeh variations that use flour are also popular. There are about 190-200 calories in 100 grams of tempeh.
In addition, tempeh contains various nutrients such as vitamin B, zinc, folate, manganese, copper, and monounsaturated fat. Monounsaturated fats are known to be good for maintaining heart and blood vessel health, as well as controlling cholesterol, and many more.
