President Jokowi Appreciates Indonesian Achievements at the SEA Games

VIVA – The Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appreciates the achievements of the Indonesian national team or athletes at the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia because Indonesia has won 60 gold medals.
"I really appreciate the acquisition of medals, gold has reached 60, the target is indeed from yesterday 60 but I asked for more than 69, hopefully, it will be exceeded," the President said after attending the People's Consultative Meeting at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, on Sunday.
Furthermore, the Head of State admitted that he was happy with the achievements of the national football team that will face the final match with Thailand. He also said that with a great fighting spirit, the Indonesian national soccer team has the mentality to be a winner.
"One thing, I am happy that football can enter the final. With a very extraordinary fight and fighting spirit and an unusual mentality. So if you win, it's natural because the mentality is really – even though you only play 10 players but you can still score goals – that's the winning mentality there," President Widodo explained.

Previously, the Indonesian U-22 soccer team dramatically won with a score of 3-2 over Vietnam in the semifinal match held on Saturday. The Indonesian national team had to lose one player after Pratama Arhan received a red card for violating an opposing player.
Despite playing with 10 players, the Indonesian national team managed to ensure a 3-2 victory through a goal in the 90+5th minute through Taufany Muslihuddin's kick. The other two Indonesian goals were scored by Komang Teguh and Muhammad Ferrari.
As reported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports social media on May 14, 2023, at the temporary medal standings for the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games, Indonesia is ranked third with 70 gold medals, 60 silver medals, 80 bronze medals, and a total of 210 medals.
