Jakarta Health Agency Records 271 Coronavirus Cases in a Week

Jakarta – The Jakarta Health Agency recorded 271 Coronavirus cases in a week, from December 4 to 10, 2023.

 "There were 271 positive cases in a week in DKI Jakarta, from December 4-10, 2023," said Head of the Surveillance, Epidemiology and Immunization Section of the Jakarta Health Office Ngabila Salama in a statement on Monday. 

Covid-19 cases tend to increase. For example, from November 27 to December 3, 2023, there were 80 positive cases of the coronavirus with 90 percent of them having mild symptoms, Salama continued.

"80 positive cases were found on November 27, 2023 - December 3, 2023 in DKI Jakarta. 90 percent with mild symptoms, 10 percent with moderate symptoms and hospitalized. The condition is very controllable. EG.4 and EG.5 are still the most dominant ones found in Jakarta with 14 cases each," Salama explained.

In addition, the Jakarta Health Agency also found two cases of death due to positive COVID-19 in December 2023 in Jakarta after no fatal cases were found in October-November.   

"We found two positive Covid-19 deaths in December 2023 after previously for two consecutive months there was no Covid-19 that resulted in death," Salama informed. 

In the first case, an 81-year-old woman with comorbid hypertension. This woman's vaccination status has carried out the third dose of vaccination, she said. 

She added: "Then the second death case was a 91-year-old woman with comorbid stroke and heart failure. This woman's vaccination status has not vaccinated against Covid-19 at all,"

However, Salama remarked the spread of Covid-19 in Jakarta is currently under control. She also urged the public to pay attention to a clean and healthy lifestyle, and use masks when doing outdoor activities. 

"Strictly use masks, wash your hands diligently, maintain indoor air ventilation, avoid cigarette smoke," she suggested.
