Kadin Seeks to Boost Indonesian MSMEs with Korean Collaboration

Jakarta, VIVA – The Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Anindya Bakrie, held a meeting with the Korean Investment and Trade Association (KITA) at the Kadin Indonesia Tower in Jakarta.
He explained that KITA is an institution with 76,000 member companies spread across various countries, focusing on trade and investment in the SME sector.
“In Indonesia, the majority of businesses are SMEs, so collaboration with a renowned Korean institution like KITA to uplift SMEs is extremely important,” Bakrie said on Tuesday (Feb 11).
He further elaborated that the discussions between Kadin and KITA during the meeting centered on ways to involve Indonesian SMEs in key government programs.
Examples include the Nutritious Free Meal Program (MBG), the three million housing program, free health checkups, and the migrant labor dispatch program.
“This collaboration with KITA could significantly benefit Indonesian SMEs,” he remarked.

Bakrie emphasized that Kadin's meetings and partnerships with international counterparts aim to open new markets for Indonesian products and services, particularly for SMEs.
He expressed confidence that successful collaboration with a country could pave the way for sustained partnerships and potentially attract foreign investments into Indonesia.
“This is Kadin’s ongoing effort to engage with international partners to expand markets—whether in trade or in finding investment opportunities in Indonesia,” he stated.
Bakrie added, “When trade flows smoothly between Indonesia and Korea, or Indonesia and Australia, for instance, it’s highly likely they’ll be interested in investing in Indonesia. With positive and scalable growth, the potential will only continue to rise.”
