VIVAnews - Indonesia is one of Hillary Rodham Clinton's destination for her first official visit as the US Secretary State.
The police will allow demonstrations related to Clinton's visit. "No one can prohibit people from carrying out a demonstration, even when we have a visit from the US Secretary of State. As long as they announce it first and do it in order, it will be legal to do so," said spokesperson of the Indonesian National Police, Insp. Gen. Abubakar Nataprawira at the police headquarters, Jakarta on Monday, Feb. 16.
Nataprawira said that the police have prepared security for guarding the demonstrations while Clinton visits. The demonstration permit application has to be submitted at least three days in advance added Nataprawira. "If the application has been submitted, they will receive a receipt," said he.
Use of loud speaker during demonstrations also cannot be prohibited, said Nataprawira. "As long as it doesn't disturb order, it'll be fine. But if the noise is too much and disturbing, we won't allow it," added the spokesperson. The security procedure on Clinton will start at the airport, as soon as she lands, then to object security, and route safety.
A similar comment is stated by spokesperson of Jakarta police department, Chief Commissioner Zulkarnain who said that it is legal to carry out demonstrations. "To state opinions is a right, it doesn't have to be restricted."
Clinton will be in Jakarta for two days, from 18 to 19 February. A meeting with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will be held on the second day of Clinton's visit.
