VIVAnews - Indonesian President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, said the government has yet to renew its weaponry system for at least 20 years.

"We need to [renew] the system," he said, today.

The president explained that the worn weaponry system is due to the impact of economic crisis a decade ago in late 1990s.

"There was the economic crisis which had crippled the nation. 10 years before the crisis, we did not fully bring up to date the system," he said.

Mr Yudhoyono viewed that the Indonesian economy is now improving. "It is time for the nation [to renew its weaponry system] following the rise in state income," he said.
