Men Raid Funeral Home in Jakarta, Three Die

VIVAnews – A brawl among two groups took place at the funeral home of the Army Hospital (RSPAD) in Gatot Soebroto, Jalan Abdul Rahman Saleh, Central Jakarta, early this morning. A security guard named Purwanto said that the brawl caused the loss of three lives. 

“Two were killed at the scene, another died on the way to the hospital,” he said today, Feb 23. 

He said that the brawl started when a group of men were providing a funeral service for a relative who died in Room A of the hospital’s funeral home. Out of a sudden, dozens of men showed up with weapons and started to attack. 

“They arrived using two cars and a taxi. They carried samurais and machetes. The people inside were unarmed,” he said. 

Police arrived after the incident ended, and the perpetrators have escaped. “The officers then identified the dead,” he said. 

Jakarta Police spokesperson, Chief. Comm. Rikwanto, said the investigators are still looking into the motive behind this incident. Rikwanto said that based on the data collected, two people were killed in the incident. 

“We have rushed the dead to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital and another four injured victims to Mitra Hospital in Kemayoran,” said Rikwanto.
