VIVAnews – The Law Commission of the House of Representatives (DPR) is currently preparing the revision of Law No. 30/2002 on Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Controversies have arisen regarding this revision.

In the draft of KPK regulation obtained by VIVAnews, one of the most striking changes is about KPK’s investigation authority.

Article 11 mentions that KPK is authorized to conduct investigation and examination of corruption cases which involve law enforcement officers, state officials, and other individuals linked with any graft cases committed by law enforcement officers or state officials.

KPK is also authorized to probe into corruption cases which draw the attention of the public; and/or caused state losses of at least Rp5 billion.

In the current regulation, the Commission is authorized to conduct investigation and examination of corruption cases which caused state loss of minimum Rp1 billion.
