VIVAnews - East Java Police have detained and named 103 alleged initiators of the riot in Mojokerto Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) building in East Java on Friday, May 21.
The suspects were arrested along with 103 evidences, which include 90 Molotov bombs, 3 lighters, 10 matches, 39 concrete poles, a hammer, a plier, 4 wood sticks, a paving stone, a stone, a roll of raffia rope, a water bottle filled with sand, 2 motorbikes and 3 trucks.
“They are still being questioned,” East Java Police Public Relations Division Head Sr. Comm. Pudji Astuti told VIVAnews on Friday, May 21. During the riot, 22 Mojokerto DPRD’s cars and 8 private vehicles were burnt.
The incident took place at about 9.10 AM when dozens of people were rallying in front of the DPRD building. The demonstrators bickered with the police when they were forcing to get in. They later attacked parked cars out of anger.
When the pair of regent and vice regent candidates Suwandi-Wahyudi Iswanto were presenting their vision and missions, a group of people whose faces covered in black and white T-shirts ravaged the building’s west gate.
The ran into the building’s yard in various directions while throwing Molotov bombs to dozens of office cars parked around the area.
