VIVAnews - The Indonesian government fails to extradite a fugitive on the case of liquidity aid of Bank Indonesia, Adrian Kiky Ariawan, from Australia.

According to spokesperson of Attorney General's Office (AGO) Babul Khoir Harahap, the Federal Court of Australia issued a policy which instructs the Australian Minister for Justice to delay the extradition of Adrian and his assets by virtue of a judicial review that Adrian proposed over the law enacted against him.

"There's no time limit for it," said Babul on Tuesday, Jan 11.

The postponement, he said, has been officially expressed during a meeting between the delegate of Australian AGO, Roger Wilkins, and Indonesian Attorney General, Basrief Arief, yesterday.

Babul said the Indonesian government was scheduled to extradite Adrian by mid February 2011.

As reported , Adrian was arrested by the Australian police in late 2008. However, the Indonesian government was unable to bring the defendant of corruption case home to Indonesia.

Adrian was put to court in abstentia and was sentenced to life imprisonment at the Central Jakarta District Court. Adrian refused to return to Indonesia upon fearing of AIDS infection that he might suffer during jail terms.
