VIVAnews - Almost all areas in Jakarta are prone to flood. Data of Disaster Handling Coordinating Force of Special Territory of Jakarta showed that among 42 subdistricts existing in five municipalities in Jakarta, there is only one subdistrict that is free from floodwater.
Crisis Center Manager at Jakarta Disaster Handling Coordinating Force, Heru Joko, said on Thursday, Jan. 15, that the said subdistrict is Johar Baru, Central Jakarta.
Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo started to worry upon seeing that the precipitation in Jakarta has increased in the last few days. He ordered officials in the 41 flood-prone subdistricts to be alert.
At least 99 aras have been flooded due to heavy rain in Jakarta in the last few days. Flood hits 199 urban villages such as Bukit Duri, Kampung Pulo, Cipinang, Petogogan and Bidaracina.
Head of Jakarta Social Affairs Agency, Budiarjo, has distributed 35 tons of relief aid to flood victims.
