More Indonesian Doctors to Leave for Gaza

VIVAnews - MER-C (Medical Emergency Rescue Committee) is planning to dispatch seven volunteers to Gaza Strip by Thursday, Jan 22. They consist of doctors that will distribute medicines for the victims of the Israel-Palestine conflict.

"This will be the second team to be sent to the conflict region," said doctor Henry Hidayatullah, MER-C Presidium, on Sunday, Jan 18.

MER-C is a local NGO specializing in providing emergency medical relief. The organization often hands out relief aid in conflict regions. 

The first team, consisted of four doctors, including Jose Rizal Jurnalis, Sarbini, Indragiri and Mursalim, had been permitted to enter Gaza by the Egyptian authorities on Saturday, Jan. 17.

The second team includes Arif Rahman (general practitioner), Abdul Muqni (surgeon), Nur Falila (internist), Dani Kurnia Ramdani (neorologist), Abdillah and Bambang (logistics), and Husein (translator).

Rahman said that the entry permit is being prepared at the Indonesian Embassy at Cairo, Egypt. After the the permit is issued, they will take off to the region. They will drop by MER-C base in Al-Arifin, Egypt.

Rahman said that the organization is preparing the next medical relief aid.
