VIVAnews - Senior politician of Golkar party, Akbar Tanjung, commented on the detainment of fugitive Muhammad Nazaruddin, former Treasurer of the Democratic Party, saying the action reflects the government’s strong will.
He said a decision to take Nazaruddin home would be appreciated by many as it would enable the runaway, "to undergo a transparent and professional process," said Akbar on Monday, August 8, 2011.
He said the arrest proved that the government was seriously in search of Nazaruddin.
Akbar put emphasis on the extradition of Nazaruddin so as to make possible further legal process against him.
"The issues leaked by Nazaruddin greatly affect the atmosphere of Indonesian politics. And yes, of course, he mentioned so many names in that it can lead to unstable political situation," he said.
"The court only values evidence."
Akbar said he hoped the legal process be conducted transparently. "He was also given as large opportunity as possible to present information, without pressures. The point is Nazar’s information is needed to clarify all the problems."
