VIVAnews – The Justice and Prosperous Party (PKS) had a thought of stepping out of the government’s coalition shortly before the announcement of the cabinet reshuffle. However, until now, PKS remains in the cabinet. The decision was also supported by a coalition partner, Golkar Party.
"If I may suggest, it is better for PKS to remain in the coalition," said Chairman of the Central Board of Golkar Party, Priyo Budi Santoso. "But of course the decision is in PKS’s hands," said Priyo.
In the latest cabinet formation, the ministerial posts of PKS was reduced by one, from previously 4 to 3 ministers. The post of the State Minister for Research and Technology that was previously held by PKS member Suharna Surapranata, is now held by Gusti Muhammad Hatta from professional circle.
"We fully respect all decisions taken by the President. Golkar sincerely accepts it," said Priyo. The party did not lose any of the cabinet seats. The three Golkar ministers retain their posts.
There was a slight exchange among Golkar members in the cabinet, namely the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister post, which was previously held by Golkar Deputy Chairman Fadel Muhammad, and has now been taken over by Sharif Cicip Sutardjo, concurrently Golkar Deputy Chairman.
