SAR Team Rescues Missing Fishermen

VIVAnews – After non-stop search effort as of Tuesday, Semarang’s SAR team has finally found a fishing boat that was declared missing on Thursday night, Dec 29. The boat was spotted on the waters between Tayu and Juwana Rembang.

According to Public Relations officer of SAR team in Semarang, Aris Triyono, the boat’s engine was shut down for 2 days when found.  The crew ran out of fuel until they lost direction.

“The boat had three crew members. They’re all from Ujung Watu village, Donorojo district, Jepara regency,” Aris said.

The crew members include Herman (41), Hadi Suprayitno (45) and Sukar (45).  They were rescued along with their boat. 

Meanwhile, according to SAR team’s coordinator, Machfud, the crews were in a weak condition because they ran out of logistics,” Machfud told VIVAnews

The crew members received immediate medical treatment around 9 p.m. They then were transported home. 

A fishing boat with 3 crews was declared missing on Tuesday.  Machfud said that the boat left on Tuesday afternoon and was scheduled to return on Wednesday morning. 

However, it didn’t return until Wednesday noon.  “Seven other fishing boats initiated the search,” Machfud said. 

Until Wednesday afternoon, the search was proven unfruitful.  They then reported the matter to SAR team in Semarang.  The SAR team immediately started the search with the help of 4 other fishing boats.
