VIVA – Itaewon is a multi-cultural commercial area and the most popular neighborhood in Seoul. Itaewon is also known for its nightlife and trendy restaurants.

Itaewon, Seoul, South Korea is currently an important topic of discussion on social media. On October 30, 2022, Itaewon became the place of a deadly Halloween disaster, around 154 people died and dozens were injured. Hundreds of people disappeared in this incident.

The name Itaewon was originally derived from the name of an inn located there during the Joseon Dynasty. Today it's called Itaewon alluding to its abundance of pear trees.

Itaewon, Seoul is a district full of tourists from other countries. The district is also famous for its lively nightlife and international atmosphere.

Because of its proximity to the US Military Base Yongsan Garrison on the west side, Itaewon is also popular with many international visitors, complete with variety cuisines and cultures from around the world. In addition, the district is home to some of the best international restaurants, bars, and clubs in Seoul.

Itaewon is also a Muslim area in South Korea. The majority of people in this region are Middle Easterners, Malaysians, and some from Indonesia. There are several halal cafes and restaurants in Itaewon. In addition, some shops offer Hajj and Umrah Tour & Travel services.

Apart from shops and cafes, there is also the largest mosque in Seoul, namely, the Itaewon Mosque. In this mosque, people can see the view of Namsan Seoul Tower.

3. Itaewon Has an Antique Furniture Complex

Itaewon is filled with antique shops because of its interesting history as a base for American troops after World War II. Due to the large number of US troops stationed near Yongsan Garrison, they often sold all of their furniture and belongings before returning to America.

4. Itaewon Global Village Festival

Every fall, the Itaewon Global Village Festival is held in the Itaewon Special Tourist Zone, this Festival is an exciting event to celebrate Korean and International culture.

This festival is usually held in the second week of October. The festival also includes a parade of more than 800 participants, cultural fashion shows, various performances, and street artists, free concerts, food stalls, and many more.
