VIVA – The implementation of the 42nd ASEAN Summit at the Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara has ended. It gives pride moment, and also sadness to local MSMEs.
Because the 42nd ASEAN Summit 2023 successfully becomes momentum for revival in the recovery of tourism and the creative economy in Labuan Bajo. The momentum was enjoyed by tourism players, the community, and also MSME players.
As stated by Titi, a grocery store owner in Labuan Bajo who was met on Friday, "When the Summit took place on May 10-11, 2023, it was very crowded. There were also many buyers, but now, it is starting to decrease, not as busy as a few days before this,"
Titi admitted that she is happy if there are big events held in Labuan Bajo again, such as the summit because it not only makes Labuan Bajo more crowded with tourists but also increases the community's economy.

However, she believes that the 42nd ASEAN Summit 2023 will have an impact on the increasing popularity of Labuan Bajo so that not only events but more tourists like Bali.
Previously, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahudin Uno stated that the spending of Labuan Bajo ASEAN Summit delegates on micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) products could reach IDR 15 billion.
"A lot of MSMEs are involved. So, almost IDR 15 billion of spending from participants and delegates of the 42nd ASEAN Summit can be felt by the community," the Minister said during a visit to the Batu Cermin Cave Cultural Festival in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Thursday.
The 42nd ASEAN Summit officially ended on Thursday after taking place on Tuesday.
