Getting to Know Truck Types Based on Tire Configuration
- Arianti Widya
VIVA – A truck is designed primarily for the transportation of goods or logistics. It typically comes in different sizes, configurations, and specifications to accommodate specific transportation needs.
This big car has various types that could be determined through the size, and even the tire configuration, or drive- wheel.
"For example, here is a 6x2 truck, which reads that it has 6 wheel points. So, do not count the number of tires, but the number of points. Or for example 4x2, so the points are counted. 2 is the moving axle," Bimo Nuswantoro as Sales Support & Trainer of PT Daimler Commercial Vehicles Indonesia stated during the media workshop, in Jakarta, on Monday.
In detail, for example, a 6X4 truck; this means truck has six points or wheel axes with four moving points or wheel axes. The four moving axles are at the rear, while the other two are at the front.
"The type of ankle truck can usually be distinguished by a 4 x 2 tire configuration. This type of truck has 2 wheel axes and 4 wheels or tires which are commonly used to transport light loads," Nuswantoro explained.
Meanwhile, a truck that has six-wheel points with three-wheel axes or axles is called a tronton. Usually, the tire configuration of a tronton type truck is 6x2 or 6 x4. Then there is also a type of tronton truck with an 8x2 configuration.
Nuswantoro also said: "The unusual one is if there is a writing per (/), for example, 8x4/4. The 4 lines mean steering axle. So, the truck has 8 wheel points with four axes or axles. The steering is four that can be turned,"
As more information, a truck offers a lot of benefits and plays a significant role in various industries. This car is a vital mode of transportation for the movement of goods over long distances.
It can carry large volumes of cargo, construction materials, and more. The truck provides flexibility in terms of routes and schedules, allowing for efficient delivery and distribution of goods.
