VIVAnews - The government predicts that Indonesia's economic growth through the end of this year will reach 6.5 percent. Such optimism disregards the projections made by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) which figures the growth of Indonesia to be 6.4 percent.

"We see that it can reach 6.5 percent," said Finance Ministry Acting Head of Fiscal Policy, Bambang Brodjonegoro, in the Parliament complex, Jakarta, on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, as for 2012, the targeted economic growth of 6.7 percent is quite high. "It is not easy to reach the level. On the other hand, it is also impossible to have another rise," he said.

The IMF revises its forecast on world economic growth to 4 percent in 2011 and 2012, a decrease of 4.3 percent compared to June projection of 2011 and 4.5 percent for 2012.

The IMF forecasts that Indonesia’s economic growth in 2011 will reach 6.4 percent. Meanwhile, the government is targeting economic growth of 6.5 percent this year and 6.7 percent next year.

The IMF also acticipates the economic growth in the region of developing countries to reach 6.4 percent this year and 6.1 percent next year. These figures went down from the previously planned 6.6 percent and 6.4 percent.

Developed countries are likely to undergo economic growth of only 1.6 percent, down from its previous estimation in June of 2.2 percent. Meanwhile, next year the economy is estimated to grow only 1.9 percent from previously 2.6 percent.
