MK Supports Unification of Advocate Clubs

VIVAnews - The Constitutional Court will support every measure which will be taken by the Supreme Court concerning the unification of lawyer organizations in Indonesia, the Association of Indonesian advocates (Peradi) and the Indonesian Advocates Congress (KAI).

"If later the Supreme Court issues a policy, the Constitutional Court will encourage the solving of the problem," said Head of Constitutional Court, Mahfud MD, on Thursday, Feb. 26.

He said the Constitutional Court does not have any interest over the presence of Peradi and KAI. Therefore, the Constitutional Court does not have to take further action concerning the parting of the two advocate organizations.

Mahfud said anyone can file a lawsuit to the Constitutional Court. One does not have to be an advocate to file a lawsuit because it may be done personally.

Furthermore, Mahfud said that there has to be one advocate organization although there are two advocate organizations in the country of which both are claiming of being the valid organization.
