This painting belongs to Vincent Van Gogh. During Van Gogh's life, he experienced financial problems and mental problems. Van Gogh managed to create one of the most famous and most expensive paintings called Autoportrait a l'oreille bandee or Self Portrait with Bandaged Ear.
Long story short, on December 23, 1888, Van Gogh was in Paris and lived with his friend. In a state of deep depression, Van Gogh threatened his friend with a razor blade, before burning and cutting off his earlobe.
After committing the horrific incident, Van Gogh painted a portrait of himself with a bandage on his ear. This certainly shocked the people of Paris at that time.

The painting tells of a man named Cimon who was sentenced to death by starvation. The daughter, Pero, then did a desperate thing to help her father, namely by "feeding" her father with her breast milk.
According to the website of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the story was recorded by the Roman historian Valerius Maximus. According to the story, Pero begged the government to allow him to visit her father until her father died.
