VIVA – Indonesia is one of the countries that started the transformation from conventional to electric vehicles. Many automotive manufacturers in Indonesia are even developing electric cars for sale.
Throughout 2022, many electric cars have been launched and offered by several brands from Toyota, Wuling, and Hyundai, to DFSK. Some of these brands offer the most affordable prices to the premium class.
Here are the electric cars introduced and sold in Indonesia in 2022, as reported by several sources.
1. Hyundai Ioniq 5

The first electric car marketed in Indonesia is the Hyundai Ioniq 5. This electric car has become the center of attention of the public, especially automotive lovers. This SUV-type car is produced locally in Cikarang, West Java.
In terms of specifications, this model is designed using the Electric-Global Modular Platform or E-GMP platform and is made as much as possible using environmentally friendly materials. The exterior looks sophisticated, thanks to the use of Parametric Pixel LEDs.
This model uses a 58-kWh lithium-ion battery that can deliver 170 horsepower and 350 Newton meters of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds. For the price, the South Korean company offers this model in four types, with prices starting from IDR 748 million on the road DKI Jakarta.
2. Wuling Air EV

Some time ago, Wuling Motors Indonesia has just introduced an EV (Electric Vehicle) based product in the country's automotive market. The vehicle leads to the Air EV model that has a small appearance.
In terms of specifications, the size of this electric car has dimensions of 2,917 millimeters long, 1,493 mm wide, 1,621 mm high, and a wheelbase of 1940 mm. Despite its small size, this model can be more agile, and be maneuvered on the road.
Speaking of engines, this electric vehicle carries a lithium Ferro-phosphate (LFP) battery engine. The engine is capable of producing 30 horsepower with torque reaching 110 Newton meters. The power is channeled with a single reduction gear transmission.
This car is offered for IDR 238 million and can be driven as far as 200 kilometers. While the other type is capable of traveling 300 km, it is sold for IDR 295 million.

PT Sokonindo Automobile (DFSK Indonesia) successfully introduced the Gelora E model with advanced technology to Indonesian consumers.
As an environmentally friendly vehicle, this new model uses a battery system supported by fast charging, which can charge from 20-80 percent within 80 minutes. For mileage, it can reach 300 km on one charge.
About prices, DFSK offers one unit of this minibus EV vehicle priced from IDR 582 million OTR DKI Jakarta. They also offer installment schemes to consumers with DPs starting from IDR 91 million with various installments starting in 12 months.
4. Nissan Leaf

At Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) exhibition this year, Japanese automotive company Nissan reintroduced its electric model called Leaf EV. This medium hatchback type car carries a 40-kWh lithium-ion battery that can travel 311 km on a single charge. Charging takes 12-15 hours with a DC charger and 5-7 hours.
For consumers who are interested in buying the vehicle, the Nissan Leaf EV is priced at IDR 728 million OTR DKI Jakarta.
5. Toyota bZ4X

Recently, Toyota Indonesia officially launched its first electric car, the Toyota bZ4X in Indonesia. This vehicle comes with a Sport Utility Vehicle design and uniquely does not produce pollution.
The vehicle is embedded with a Lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 71.4 kilo Watt hours, which can store electrical energy for a trip of 500 kilometers. The engine is capable of producing 204 horsepower and 266 Newton meters of torque.
The company, which is famous for its millionth car, priced the model at IDR 1.19 billion on the road in DKI Jakarta. With this price, the owner will get many new features and advanced technology.
6. BMW i4 and iX

BMW also presents electric cars with the i4 and iX models. Both models have a premium look from both the exterior and interior that is more luxurious in its class.
Both vehicles look dynamic with a more modern design. The front is also slightly wider, including the bumper and grille. For lights, both cars have been embedded with LEDs that make them fresher and more luxurious.
The engine performance of the iX has more power at 326 horsepower, allowing it to reach a speed of 0-100 kph in just 6.1 seconds. As for the i4, it uses a 340-horsepower electric motor coupled with classic rear-wheel drive.
For the price, the German company offers one unit of the BMW i4 eDrive40 model priced from IDR 2.2 billion, while the BMW iX xDrive40 costs IDR 2.5 billion. These prices are still off the road.
7. Mercedes-Benz EQS and EQE

Mercedes-Benz released a new product to Indonesian consumers. The four-wheeled vehicles are named EQS and EQE, a sedan-type car that has been powered by an electric engine.
In terms of appearance, the EQS and EQE offer modern designs and premium luxury exteriors. For the EQS, there are strong flowing coupe lines that characterize its dynamic silhouette. Even the taillights are made in a curved 3D spiral shape.
Meanwhile, the EQE combines its dynamic appearance with a balance between technical innovation and modern aesthetics. This model has been embedded with two LED light bars at the front, and there are body curves that show a sense of luxury.
For the price, Mercedes-Benz offers the electric car priced from IDR 2.215 billion for the EQE 350+ Electric Art Line, IDR 2.984 billion for the EQS 450+ Electric Art Line, and IDR 3.410 billion for the EQS 450+ AMG Line. These prices are still off the road.
