Jakarta – Piaggio Indonesia has announced the discontinuation of production of the Vespa Batik motorcycle at its factory in Cikarang, West Java. The last production of this model is scheduled for October 2024, with a total production reaching 1,920 units.

Country Head of PID, Marco Noto La Diega, stated that the Vespa Batik has been a valuable companion in celebrating two iconic cultural identities from Italy and Indonesia.

"Now, it's time to start a new chapter, certainly with the determination to continue inspiring our customers as we always have," Diega said in a statement released on Saturday.

The Vespa Batik was first launched in November 2022 during the inauguration of the first Piaggio Group factory in Indonesia.

This Vespa serves as a symbol of respect for Indonesian culture by combining two icons, namely the Vespa from Italy and Batik from Indonesia.

The traditional Batik motif "Tambal Jagad" adorns the body of the Vespa Batik, symbolizing the unity and diversity of Indonesia.

Made and marketed exclusively for Indonesia, the Vespa Batik embodies the slogan "From Indonesia, For Indonesia."
