'Yellow' Judges Reported by ICW

VIVAnews - The Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) delivered report on 106 judges who are under the category 'yellow' to the Judicial Commission of Indonesia (JC). The judges are alleged of passing not-guilty verdicts to various defendants of corruption cases along 2009.

"The Judicial Commission must evaluate the judges in an attempt to keep fine record on them, which will be needed if the JC would appoint Supreme Judges one day," ICW Working Committee member Deta Arta Sari told VIVAnews on Tuesday, Jan 19.

Of the 106 judges, there was one passing non-guilty verdicts of corruption cases within a year.

Earlier, Supreme Court Chief Harifin Tumpa emphasized that the data was not valid. However, Lilin instead stressed that the data kept by the Supreme Court was invalid.

"We found that in 2009, 16 defendants were sentenced probation. The Supreme Court said the contrary, saying that no probation was applied. We will hand in the data to the Supreme Court," he said.

In addition, data from the Supreme Court stated that corruption cases were only about 50 while the ICW discovered that hundreds of cases were put to court.
