RI-Holland Insists on Cease Fire in Gaza

VIVAnews - The Indonesian government and the Netherlands urged the United Nations to take a firm measure regarding Israeli aggression against Palestine. The Dutch government is concerned about the Israeli invasion of Gaza Strip.

"During the meeting between Indonesian Foreign Minister and Dutch Foreign Minister, both countries insisted that a cease fire is put into effect in the Gaza Strip," said Director General of US-European Affairs at the Department of Foreign Affairs Retno LP Marsudi on Wednesday, Jan. 14. 

According to Marsudi, the Dutch government regrets Israel's attacks against  Palestine, which have claimed the lives of almost 1,000 Palestinians.

In addition to discussing the conflicts in Gaza Strip, both countries also talked about issues on climate change, poverty, ASEAN and Uni European progress, as well as the development in the Middle East.

The Dutch government appreciates Indonesia's accomplishment in organizing the Bali Democracy Forum. "We're glad that the Bali Democracy Forum was a success," said Dutch Foreign Affairs Minister Maxime Verhagen.
